Once you have the glass, replace it to the original spot while the thin layer of putty you applied will form a seal on the other side of the pane. Take Glazier’s Points and inset one every 4”-5” around the pane. You can start with your fingers and then use a putty knife to push them all the way. Be sure to keep the glazier firm against the glass.

Next, it is time to apply the putty. Dip out a golf ball sized lump of putty and start kneading it to get it smooth and lump free. Once that is complete, then roll the smoothed putty into pencil sized strips. Lay these strips all around the pane of glass, using a glazing tool to smooth it out. In several days, when dry, you may sand it and paint it the desired color.
